Is it really unreasonable to want a JEWISH Israel and not repeat the folly of Gaza?

Netanyahu to Mitchell: Palestinians Must Accept Jewish State
[Jerusalem Post] Herb Keinon and Tovah Lazaroff - Palestinian recognition that Israel is a Jewish state is a fundamental element for any talks between the two parties, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told visiting U.S. envoy George Mitchell on Thursday. Sources close to Netanyahu dismissed media reports of growing tensions between Israel and the U.S. over the best path for peace with the Palestinians, describing the meeting as a very positive one. Netanyahu assured Mitchell that Israel wanted to move forward to create a sustainable peace with the Palestinians, but that this peace had to take into account Israel's vital security interests.
****People (like Obama and the U.S.State Department ) seem to forget that the Palestinians, even the ostensibly "moderate" ones like Fatah and the Palestinian Authority say they accept the idea of two states, Palestine and Israel but, although Jews are not allowed in Palestine, they do not recognize Israel as a Jewish state and actually want to further dilute its Jewish nature by "returnees" ( the grandchildren of some who MIGHT have left in 1948 ). Mohammed Dahlan specifically said so recently, spelling out that: the PLO, PA, Fatah, et al have not recognized Israel as a Jewish state. This is trickery of the most blatant and unethical kind. They want a "pure" (Judenrein) Arab Islamist state called Palestine and a binational state called Israel to be dominated eventually by Arabs. Their attitude is that of an old joke: "We are brothers; what is yours is mine. What is mine is mine." *****

Netanyahu: We won't accept another Hamastan
Prime minister meets with visiting US special envoy George Mitchell, says Israel has no desire to rule the Palestinians but must ensure that political process does not result in another Hamas-controlled entity that could threaten Jerusalem.
It appears the coveted assurance from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the United States that the Israeli government will back the two state solution has failed to materialize.
The prime minister met on Thursday evening with US President Barack Obama's special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell.Netanyahu told Mitchell that while Israel has no desire to rule over the Palestinians, it must maintain its security interests. Prior to the meeting a senior official in Netanyahu's office said that the prime minister would stress to Mitchell that Israel "expects the Palestinians to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish people." He also emphasized the importance of furthering the West's cooperation with other countries in the region, especially Saudi Arabia, as these nations have a better understanding of the Iranian threat.
