Daniel Hannen is a British politician who shows us what real oratory is: simple, direct, compelling and, incidentally, right on the money!

This speech was so compelling that I asked an English friend who this guy is since I'd vote for him just on the basis of one speech. Here's the answer:
He is one of the very few Euro MPs that actually has the best interests of his electorate , rather than themselves , at heart.

His speech must have resonated across the Internet ( his comments apply in general and in spades to the United States ) and he was invited onto the Hannity program this evening. It might just be the training of the British Parliamentary System but Mr. Hannen is just as quick, articulate, eloquent and insightful off the cuff as he is with a prepared speech. No need of teleprompters for this guy!

In a brief period he communicated several insights. However, if there was one message he wanted to stick, it was to avoid, like the plague, nationalization of healthcare such as the National Health Service in Britain: he claimed that it's not good for doctors, patients, taxpayers and it even corrupts bureaucrats who have to make life and death decisions, from which there is no appeal. He cited the government allocation agency that just decided to ration treatment for breast cancer on the grounds of cost effectiveness. It's called The National Institute for Clinical Excellence ( NICE ) and makes final, unappealable decisions on what should, and what should not, be provided and to whom.
