Washington DC reaches lower than even our expectations

When Newspapers Peddle Influence A revealing scandal at the Washington Post. By THOMAS FRANK ...Washington Post issued a flier advertising a "salon" on the health-care issue. ...at the home of the paper's publisher, Katharine Weymouth, participants..."a collegial evening, with Obama administration officials, Congress members, business leaders, advocacy leaders and other select minds."...And you could "bring your organization's CEO or executive director literally to the table" for a mere $25,000.
...It was a moment of rare, piquant hypocrisy....****Just as Republicans are specially singled out for hypocrisy when they fail on moral dimensions ( because they opine on Family Values), so too should the Democrats be excoriated for more specifically pecuniary requests for bribes when they aspire to be so ethical. Here, a left columnist blasts a left newspaper for doing the unacceptable and, worse, clearly embarrassing.****
Perhaps the WashPost is merely privatizing what is a traditional governmental corruption (e.g. selling sleepovers to the Lincoln Bedroom ).
