During Visit, Obama Skirts Chinese Political Sensitivities By MICHAEL WINES and SHARON LAFRANIERE NYTimes
BEIJING — Whether by White House design or Chinese insistence, President Obama has steered clear of public meetings with Chinese liberals, free press advocates and even ordinary Chinese during his first visit to China, showing deference to the Chinese leadership’s aversions to such interactions that is unusual for a visiting American president...
The "First Pacific President", claims Obama, despite evidence to the contrary. Charles Krauthammer, once a practicing psychiatrist at Mass General Hospital, knows narcissism when he sees it and he sees it clearly in Obama. BHO's absurd claim that he is the "first Pacific President" by virtue of having grown up in Hawaii and Indonesia ignores Wm H. Taft having been Governor of the Phillipines, Teddy Roosevelt having pacified the Russo-Japanese War and numerous other examples more substantive than the pitiful experience of BHO. Nevertheless, everything is about HIM and his knowledge of history doesn't extend past his own personal experience which he, perforce, thinks unique and wonderful.
Obama may be unique in one way: he combines the rarely associated qualities of narcissism with diffidence about standing up for any kind of principle. Thus, his refusal to receive the Dalai Lama, his obeisances to the Keeper of the Two Shrines and, recently, to the Emperor of Japan ( although the latter might be to disinfect the former of its Islamist taint ), and his acquiescence to the requirements of China.
