****The fraud revealed by closer examination was even more egregious than one could have imagined: the fraudsters of the warmist movement actually switched from one data set to another, without recalibration and for the sole purpose of producing the result they wanted. This is a capital crime in any kind of scientific activity. There is nil difference between doing this and making up ersatz data out of whole cloth: there is always some "real" data set that can be endlessly manipulated in this way.
There are also less malign but still erroneous ways of taking data that can be demonstrated by anyone with an outdoor car in cold weather. Read the temperature outside the car when it is near a building and then read the temperature when it is away from any habitation on the road. In cold weather, you will see the temperature FALL by as much as ten degrees. Then ask whether the thermometers used in recent years to monitor current climate are placed out in the fields or ( for convenience's sake) nearer buildings. Perhaps that's why recent temperature readings vary between land and satellite and ocean and desert etc.****
